- OBITUARY-
Raymond E. Arett, 75, of 1911 6th Ave. SE, Austin, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 2, 1999, at his home.
He was born March 7, 1924, at Moscow, Minn. in Freeborn County to Benjamen and Ida Mae (Hubbard) Arett. He married Betty Ann Chinander March 1, 1943. Employed by Geo. A. Hormel & Co. in the sheet metal shop, he retired in 1982. A founding member of Fellowship Methodist Church, volunteer duties included Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and lay reader. He also belonged to the American Legion, Life Master Bridge Club (Director), Austin Duplicate Bridge Club (Director), Indian Guides, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts (Honorary member). He was a square dance caller, bridge instructor and an avid sports fan and enjoyed carpentry, fishing, boating, camping and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Dale Arett, Austin; daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Howard Oldenkamp, Austin, Rea and Mark Gotz, Austin, Dee and Steve Sebesta, Lake Mary, Florida, Lee and Dale Wicks, Austin, Rita and Curtis Srock, Austin, Elden and Kenny Hoefker, Worthington; twenty grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Virgil and Lil Arett, Spring Valley, Duane and Margo Arett, Blaine, Ginny Arett, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law Alice Odland, Walnut Creek, Calif., Mary King, San Leandro, Calif., Janet Roberts, Blooming Prairie, Robert Pyburn, Austin, Clancy Kottsik, Arizona; aunt Ruth Hertle; many nieces and nephews.
