Amdal Rites Are Friday
Last rites for Selmer S. Amdal, 62, Everett, Wash., son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Amdal of this city, are to be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery. The Rev. Edward I. Ulseth will officiate.
Services are to be tomorrow at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Everett after which the body is to be sent here for final services and interment.
Mr. Amdal died Friday [December 16, 1960] after having suffered a heart attack while at work. He was sent by ambulance to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival there.
He was born here in Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Amdal on Feb. 14, 1898. He received his education here and worked on the Rock Island until 1926 when he moved to Everett. There he had been employed for the past 25 years by the Weyerhauser Lumber Company.
Survivors of Mr. Amdal include his widow, Kirsten, his son, Kenneth, and five grandchildren, all of Everett, Wash.; also his parents, two brothers, J. M. Amdal of Tacoma, Wash., G. L. Amdahl of this city and four sisters, Mrs. Roland (Gladys) Schroeck, Mrs. Mabel Mason, Hazel Amdal and Mrs. Fred (Lena) Owens of Guthrie Center.
Pallbearers at the service here are to be Martin Berge, Alfred Nelson, Pete Aanonson, P. G. Paulson, Merton Mason and Nolan Nelson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 19, 1960)
