In Loving Memory of Beatrice Axcelia Kallicot
Born Beatrice Axcelia Falquist on January 27, 1909, in Seattle, Washington, "Beattie" as her family and friends affectionately knew her, moved with her family from Seattle at the age of one year to east Sunnyside where she lived for many years until her death.
While growing up with her two older brothers, Roy and Robert, and her younger sister, Ruth, Beattie attended Sunnyside Elementary School as well as Everett High School. It was during these years that she and her siblings would often have to row a boat two miles and walk another two miles to go to school.
In 1930 Beattie married Roy Kallicot and with her new husband they built their own home "from the bottom up". Together Beattie and Roy had three children - Stanley, who died at age 4; Judith, who died in 1982; and Karen, who lives in Lake Stevens with her husband, Richard Stewart, and their family.
Beattie was a woman who loved live. Before having her children, she and Roy loved to go dancing and together they camped in nearly every corner of Washington state. She loved the outdoors and had a deep respect for nature, but above all she loved to garden. She could be found in her garden on any day it wasn't raining, and she had sweet peas ready to plant just before her death.
Beattie also enjoyed the company of her close friends, especially "The Girl's Club", a group of ladies she met with to play pinochle for over twenty years. Together they "told jokes and laughed" and simply enjoyed life, which Beattie did very well.
Just a week before her death, Beattie suffered a heart attack which sent her to the hospital for a short stay. She came home to get back to life, but she died in her own bed on December 30, 1991.
Beatrice will be remembered with love by her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Richard Stewart, along with their four children, Eric, Tracy, Pieter and Andrew; her son-in-law Dick Holt and his children, Julie, Heidi, Suzie and Greg; by her brother Robert and her sister Ruth; and by her many friends.
