- James Bustad ble født i Sibley, Osceola county. High School tok han 30 mil lenger sør i Granger like ved Des Moines. Der fikk han vitnemål i 1962. Allerede året etter giftet han seg med Linda Foshe som kom fra byen like ved, Des Moines. James og Linda giftet seg da de var henholdsvis 19 og 18 år. James og Linda bodde mye av sin tid i byen Boone, rett nord for Granger og Des Moines. James bodde siste del av livet i Stratford, enda litt lenger nord der datteren Jennifer Frank er bosatt.
Sammen hadde de to barn Daniel Bustad (f. 1968) og Linda Bustad (f. ?), gift Frank. James ble 72 år, mens Linda ble 64 år.

James Jim Bustad, age 72, of Stratford and formerly of Boone, died January 3, 2017, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Following his wishes, Jim has been cremated. A Memorial Service will be Friday, January 6, 2017, at10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Brian McNamara officiating. Burial of his cremains will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.
James Allen Bustad, was born in Sibley, Iowa on January 27, 1944, the son of James Oliver and Bernice (Slickeveer) Bustad.He graduated from Granger High School in Granger, Iowa in 1962 and on April 13, 1963, Jim married Linda Foshe in Granger.He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.For over 30 years, Jim worked for the City of Boone and was Public Works Director. He retired in 2008.
Jim enjoyed fishing, old country music, vacationing, especially to Okoboji and Branson, Missouri, reading history, especially about Native American Indians, and coffee and socializing; early mornings at the Whistle Stop, late mornings at Hy-Vee, and after moving, coffee in Stratford. Jim also enjoyed the Friday night gatherings in Boone and Stratford.
He collected caps and T shirts from his extensive traveling, was a member of the first Boone County Freedom Flight and Jim was a ladies man and loved to flirt.
He is preceded in death by his father, his wife Lisa in 2009, and an infant brother.
Jim is survived by a son, Daniel Bustad and wife Linda of Wahoo, Nebraska; a daughter Jennifer Frank and husband James of Stratford; his mother, Bernice Bustad of Woodward; four grandchildren, Jordan and Jaynie Bustad, and Wyatt and Rachel Frank; three brothers, John Bustad of Woodward, and Tom and Bob Bustad both of Granger; a sister Bonnie Bustad of Des Moines; his special friend and companion, Dodie Flockhart of Stratford, Dodies son and her granddaughters, Trent Flockart of Stanhope and Kelsey and Jacie Flockhart.
Linda Bustad, age 64, of 521-20th Street, died February 4, 2009, at the Boone County Hospital.
Linda was born in Des Moines on December 8, 1944, the daughter of Herman and Rose (Moore) Foshe. She graduated from Granger Independent High School in 1962. On April 13, 1963, she married James Bustad in Granger. She worked in Boone for Tim Buckner as a secretary for Principal Financial Group. She was semi-retired. Linda enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending military reunions with her husband Jim, trips to Branson and Lake Okoboji, and preparing holiday dinners.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jim; a son, Daniel Bustad and wife, Lisa of Wahoo, Nebraska; a daughter, Jennifer Frank and husband, James of Stratford; four grandchildren: Jordan and Jaynie Bustad and Wyatt and Rachel Frank; a brother, Dennis Foshe and wife, Irene of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; and two sisters, Velma Mills of Perry and Darlene Malone of Earlham
