"Obituary of Andrew Enes. Andrew Enes passed away Saturday, morning, December 1, at 8:30 a.m., at his home in Roland, Iowa, at the age of 81 years.
Mr. Enes was born near Stavanger, Norway, June 7, 1879. He came to America with his parents when he was 1 1/2 years old. When he was three years of age, his mother passed away, and he was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eness, his foster parents. His father returned to Norway, but was unable to return to America because of ill health, and died there.
In later years, he made his home with his foster mother's daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Eness. He often mentioned the wonderful home he had there.
Andrew went to read for Rev. Jacobson and was confirmed by Rev. Guttebo. He was united in marriage to Anna Peterson of Ames, Iowa. To this union were born two children, Stella (Mrs. Tallmer Tjelmeland) of Zearing, and Paul of Nevada. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and a niece and nephew in Illinois, as well as a number of cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Helvig, a year and a half ago.
He settled on the farm northeast of Roland, where he farmed a number of years until he retired ten years ago.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 3, from Bergen Lutheran Church, with Pastor H. M. Lybeck officiating. Otto J. Hanson sang "Den Store Hvide Flok." Pallbearers were John Braathun, Henry Borwick, Leonard Twedt, Ole Larson, Earl Grindem, and Julius Johnson.
