- Leo var advokat og kunstmaler i Chesterton. Han var medlem av the Painters Union, og var med å stifte Chesterton Art Gallery som senere ble bhetende Chesterton Art Center (www.chestertonart.org/).
Leo og Vivian fikk tre barn, men eldste sønnen Raymond Twait mistet livet som 10-åring i en trafikkulykke.

Leo R. Twait, Chesterton artist and advocate, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his home. He was 92.
He was born Dec. 27, 1914 in Danway, Ill., the son of Darwin and Rose (Duvick) Twait, both of whom preceded him in death.
On May 4, 1938 in Chicago, he married Vivian L. Pentony, who survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by a son, Raymond Twait; two daughters, Nancy LaHage and Janet Crawford, both of Chesterton; four grandchildren, David (Hillary) Crawford, Eric (Victoria) Crawford, Brad (Michelle) Crawford, Brian (Angela) Crawford; four great-grandchildren, Calum Crawford, Isabel Haldane, Eli Crawford, Parker Crawford.
Leo was a member of the Painters Union. He was a Founding Member of the Chesterton Art Gallery (now Center) and continued for 38 years. Leo and his wife were married for 69 years.
He was known for his whimsical art work, both locally and in Chicago.
Funeral services, Fr. Lawrence Heeg officiating, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 15 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the VNA Horton Hospice Center of Porter County or to the Chesterton Art Center.

Vivian L. Twait, age 98, of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016.
Vivian was born in Joliet, IL on April 12, 1918 to Frank and Leona (Seaman) Pentony. She married Leo R. Twait in Chicago, IL on May 4, 1938.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Lahage of Chesterton and Janet Crawford of Chesterton; grandchildren, David (Hillary) Crawford, Eric (Victoria) Crawford, Brad (Michelle) Crawford and Brian Crawford; great-grandchildren, Calum, Isabel ?Lulu?, Eli, Parker, Caleb and Josiah. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo and son, Raymond.
Vivian was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She worked part time as a secretary for many years at the Chesterton Art Center with her husband.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., with Father James Meade officiating at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
